Sailing:
Treat yourself to a summer sailing vacation along the scenic waters of Southeast Alaska! Enjoy the beauty of the endless Tongass National Forest, majestic mountains and pristine waterways. Sail silently among the straits, bays, and inlets of the protected Inside Passage.
Wildlife:
Wildlife abounds! While at anchor we may see bear, deer or moose wander down to browse along the shoreline. Seals, sea lions, sea otters, and river otters may play around our yacht. Majestic bald eagles may swoop down to snatch a fish! We often see humpback and orca whales while sailing between anchorages. Porpoises and dolphins sometimes entertain us as they race in our bow wave.
Hot Springs:
One is a natural rock pool next to class five glacier fed rapids. Two are remote bathhouses overlooking the Gulf of Alaska. Tenakee Springs, a small community of about 100 people, also has a bathhouse. Not all itineraries include a hot spring, so please let us know if this interests you so we can plan accordingly.
Towns:
You may want to visit charming small villages such as Elfin Cove, Pelican, Tenakee Springs, Baranof, Kake, or Hoonah. Several of these are built on boardwalks with no roads or cars! The rich history of Alaska awaits you in the larger settlements of Ketchikan, Sitka, Juneau, Petersburg, or Wrangell. For private trips, if you prefer wilderness we can spend the entire trip without a glimpse of civilization!
Hiking:
Our permit allows you to hike numerous US Forest Service trails. These trails are usually remote and offer outstanding views of streams, lakes, and waterfalls. You can also stroll the beach in each bay we anchor in to stretch your legs.
Fishing:
The fishing is world class! Depending on the time of year, king salmon, silver salmon, halibut, rockfish, cod and many other fish may land on your dinner plate. You can also fish remote lakes and streams if you bring your fly rods or spinning gear.
