Travel Insurance /Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance can cover your yacht charter, airfare, hotels and other expenses if you cancel for an approved reason: a major medical issue, death in the immediate family, etc.

Policies also typically cover medical expenses/air evacuation and lost or delayed luggage. Buying insurance within 10 days of booking your charter often adds coverage for pre-existing medical conditions. You can also buy Medical only very inexpensively.

In the Caribbean:

  • December - May, we expect no weather issues.
  • June - November is hurricane season, with the greatest risk August-October. We recommend travel insurance, and some yachts require it. But the odds of weather disrupting your trip is extremely small - one Virgin Islands yacht reports "In 23 years of chartering, we have cancelled one week." The southern Caribbean has historically rarely seen hurricanes, but 2004 brought a notable exception to Grenada. Many yachts charter in the Grenadines and south during this time.
